February 24, 2020Fifteen law firms have made Stonewall’s list of top 100 LGBT-inclusive employers for 2020.
In fourth place, Pinsent Masons is the most LGBT-friendly law firm according to the report, and Leigh Day is reported to be a top employer for trans inclusivity.
Stonewall recognises that trans employees face distinct challenges in the workplace, so looks for firms that:
- Provide support and guidance to those who are transitioning while in their workplace
- Enable non-binary employees to be recognised on workplace systems
- Profile trans people in employee communications
- Offer practical support to trans community groups and events
Baker McKenzie and Travers Smith are in joint 12th place and Slaughter and May has made a very impressive leap from 70th place in 2019 to 15th place this year.
DWF is reported to be Stonewall’s bi-inclusive employer of the year. DWF supported four UK Prides over summer 2019 and ensured that Bi Pride flags were available to all attendees. In May 2019, DWF’s Leeds office hosted a Bi Inclusion Seminar, which covered biphobia, bi discrimination, and building bi-inclusive workplaces. DWF placed at number 30 in the overall top 100 list.
Other law firms that made the list include:
- Hogan Lovells
- Clifford Chance
- Allen & Overy
- Eversheds Sutherland (International) LLP
- Taylor Wessing
- Linklaters LLP
- Mayer Brown International LLP
- Irwin Mitchell

Sanjay Sood-Smith, Stonewall’s executive director of workplace & community programmes said: “Pinsent Masons and all of the legal sector organisations in this year’s top employer’s list are playing a huge role in improving the lives of LGBT people, and should be very proud of their work.”
