March 1, 2017Slaughter and May has made its first ever London lateral hire in its 125 year history, recruiting Herbert Smith Freehill’s (HSF) head of pensions, Daniel Schaffer. This is the firm’s first London lateral partner hire, and its second global lateral hire after recruiting Hong Kong corporate partner John Moore from Morrison & Foerster in 2014. Schaffer is leaving HSF after 7 years, having previously been a partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 1998. Following his arrival, Slaughter and May’s pensions and employment practice will comprise of five partners, and over 25 lawyers.
