Time is of the essence in LPC exams, there really isn’t any time to spare. If you find yourself endlessly rooting through your notes and books, you are not using the time efficiently – if you can’t find an answer straight away, come back to that question later. Missing a couple of marks because you didn’t have time to go back is much better than not getting to the end of the paper because you had your nose in a book.
Knowing how much time you have to answer the entire exam will give you an idea of how long to spend on each question. This may vary from paper to paper but don’t waste time working it out exactly. One method is to take the exam time, take away 10 minutes at the beginning for reading and 15 mins at the end for checking then divide (approximately) the remaining time by the number of marks that are available. Multiply your time per mark by the number of marks for the question you are answering and you will arrive at an approximate time for that question. Don’t be surprised if this is not very long – as I said, there is very little time in LPC exams!
