Surviving the BPTC – Centrally Set Exams

February 27, 20139. Calm down, dear!
I usually am quite good at keeping my nerves under control in exams. However, the pressure in the LPC exams to finish the paper and to get everything done did get to me and I found myself getting wound up, especially in subjects I wasn’t so fond of! This made me lose focus and get a little scribbly – my handwriting isn’t great when I am in control; my panic-mode scrawl is simply illegible!
Having never had to deal with nerves before, I asked a friend for some advice, which really helped: whenever you feel like you are getting out of control, close your eyes, take a deep breath, have a sip of water without looking at the paper, then continue. Just shutting down my brain for a couple of seconds really did help and the next time it happened, I didn’t end up writing like a monkey!
