The National Admissions test for Law is an entry requirement for 8 UK universities:

  • University of Bristol
  • Durham University
  • University of Glasgow
  • King's College London
  • University of Nottingham
  • University of Oxford
  • SOAS University of London
  • University College London

It was introduced in 2004 in response to the increasing difficulty universities had differentiating between students with high A-Level results.

The LNAT is an online test, taken at an independent test centre which includes a mixture of multiple choice and essay questions. The fee to book in at a test centre is around £50. The results of the test will be sent directly your chosen universities and you will be notified of your multiple choice score by email. The university will then be able to reference this score and your essay answers when considering your application.

The LNAT is an ‘aptitude test’ so you can’t really revise for it but you can look over and practice the types of questions that will come up and there are many books available with example questions.

Browsing the LNAT website is a good start to your preparations, they have lots of tips and info as well as some sample questions. (www.lnat.ac.uk). An important point to remember is that you don’t lose marks for an incorrect answer, so make sure you attempt every question!
