Jobs

Have you ever dreamed about getting your work published on a site read by thousands of people a week? Are you enthusiastic, hard-working and creative? Perhaps you’re a law student, a graduate searching for the elusive pupillage or training contract, maybe you’re even already practicing. Maybe you’re none of the above and you just have a passion for the law: we want to talk to you.

Right now, we’re looking for smart, creative, motivated law nuts who want to add something to their CV, gain valuable experience and perhaps even have a bit of fun in the process.

You’ll get to work with a world-class (don’t believe us? Just ask them!) leadership team, a professional and experienced group of editors and a fantastic team of writers, with lots in common with you.

We’re looking for:

  • Headline Writers – A fast thinking person to write up to the minute news headlines.
  • Feature Writers – You’re capable of thinking critically and analytically, with a strong depth of understanding.
  • Associate Editor – Your keen eye for detail helps you to pick out mistakes and your great people skills make it easy for you to work with others to improve their work.
  • Lead Developer – Your unmatchable knowledge of programming or coding languages means creating innovative features comes naturally to you.
  • Lead Creative – Your creative streak enables you to design amazing pieces to engage our readers and highlight our ideas.
  • Community Partner – You love to talk and you’re always the centre of attention. You have fantastic people skills and you always know how to start a conversation.

If you think you match any of the descriptions above, you might be exactly what we’re looking for. Send us an email at jobs@thestudentlawyer.com, explaining why you love the law and giving us a paragraph about you so we can get to know you a little. Be sure to include the position you’re applying for in the subject line.

If you’re applying for one of the writing or editing positions, include no more than three examples of your work, including a 1,000-2,000 word feature piece on a legal topic of your choice. If you’re applying for a Creative or Developer role, include links to your portfolio or examples of your work. Please don’t send us images or scripts as attachments, if you do, we probably won’t consider your application. Documents are fine though.
