Clear the Lobby: What laws are MPs voting on this week? – w/c 13th May

Some small bills going through Parliament as Theresa May’s Brexit talks continue with Labour. Elsewhere, all parties are campaigning ahead of EU elections on 23 May.

MONDAY 13 MAY

Non-Domestic Rating (Preparation For Digital Services) Bill – 2nd reading
Applies to: England, Wales
Allows HMRC to begin designing and developing a digital service for collecting business rates (a tax on property used for business purposes). These are currently collected by local councils. This service would allow businesses to manage all their taxes in one place.

TUESDAY 14 MAY

Hares Preservation Bill
Bans the killing or taking of hares during breeding season. Repeals the Hares Preservation Act 1892, which banned the sale of hares between the months of March and July. Ten minute rule motion presented by George Eustice.
