For over two years, Eversheds has been on the hunt for a firm that would see its presence in the US expand considerably. The wait is finally over as its merger with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan has gone live. The merger with the Atlanta-founded firm is set to create an offering of over 500 partners and 2,000 lawyers spread across 61 offices in 29 countries. The merger will see collective revenue total £600 million with the addition of seven new offices in the US.
Co-CEO of Eversheds, Lee Ranson, said, “The driver for us was to find a firm that culturally matched us and that had a reputation for quality and a track record for delivering excellent client service”. He continued, “We feel Sutherland ticks those boxes. In terms of what we can offer clients we now have a much stronger offering, not only by geography but in terms of excellent client service delivery”. Clients of the transatlantic merger will include Coca-Cola, Facebook, and General Electric. The firm also stated that it would represent 71 of the US Fortune 100 and 57 of the FTSE 100.
