The Student Lawyer primarily looks at the ways you can improve your chances of becoming a lawyer. We talk about interview technique, application form advice and how to survive law school. Sometimes we even talk about how much money you can earn when you finally get there. But until now, we’ve never discussed what happens when you become a lawyer and all of the things you can spend your hard-earned money on. In the new Things for Lawyers series, we’ll be exploring some of the best items money can buy to make work easier, more fun or to help you look good while doing it.
In this article, we’ll look at some super-thin cases you can buy for your iPhone from our friends at Caudabe.
The Veil XT is the thinnest case I’ve ever seen at just 0.35mm. The case can be bought from the Caudabe website for $20.95 and comes in a number of colours to match your iPhone, including Stealth Black, Wisp, Frost and Rose Gold. The case is really easy to put on, you just slide in the corners and click everything into place. The case has a very snug fit on the phone and has perfect cut-outs for all of the buttons and holes.
Because it’s so thin, once the case is on, you won’t even know you have a case on your phone. The case isn’t designed to provide extreme protection from significant drops, but will definitely protect your phone from scrapes and bumps.
In conclusion, the Veil XT is as minimalist as you can get. If you’re looking for a case that will protect you from drops, this probably isn’t it. However, if you’re like me and don’t want to hide your device with a thick plastic case, while still getting basic protection, this is the one for you.
The Sheath is a nice blend of the minimalist protection of the Veil XT, but provides a little extra drop protection. The case is manufactured from ShockLite, a soft, gel-like, flexible polymer which Caudabe says provides excellent shock absorption. The Sheath is 0.9mm thin and comes in a number of colours including Grey, Red and Navy. Like the Veil XT, the Sheath can be bought from the Caudabe website for $20.95.
The Synthesis is Caudabe’s most protective case. It provides a soft, grippy bumper around the edges of the phone with a hard shell on the back. If you’re looking for a case that offers much more protection from drops, this is the one for you. The Synthesis case can be purchased from the Caudabe website and is a little more expensive than the other cases we tried, at $25.95.
For us, the Veil XT is the clear favourite, however the Sheath is also a great choice if you’re looking for a little more protection and you don’t mind giving up a little bit more thickness.
