Vodafone has suffered a huge customer data breach, which follows the TalkTalk attack that occurred last week. Hackers may have accessed the bank details of nearly 2000 Vodafone customers. The mobile mogul has released a statement saying that customers names, mobile numbers, bank sort codes and the last four digits of their bank accounts may have been accessed. Vodafone has maintained that the security protocols were fundamentally effective.
The attack follows the TalkTalk cyber attack suffered earlier this month. Vodafone will be relieved that the scale was not on the same as Talk Talks attack. An estimated 1.2 million customers email addresses, names and phone numbers were stolen. Officials have arrested three suspects in relation to the Talk Talk attack. Hacked bank details have however already found themselves onto an eBay style market.
