US law firm has continued its flurry of hires in the capital by recruiting A&O’s partner since 2000, Thomas Jones. Jones was the firm’s former European head of US law as well as a partner in derivatives and structured finance. Jones spent 20 years at the magic circle firm having joined in 1995. He is not the only lawyer in the city to be drafted by King & Spalding as they have made numerous hires from Global 100 firms in the past 12 months.
Capital markets partner at Linklaters Tom O’Neill as well as the head of BLP’s advocacy group Stuart Isaacs QC are also among the pool of new recruits enlisted by King & Spalding. This expansion within the London office is not limited to UK firms but King & Spalding have also sought veteran lawyers from US firms such as Latham & Watkins as well as Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. London is not the only city to have fallen victim to King & Spalding’s recruitment raid, earlier in June of this year, the firm hired a four-partner team from Ashurst in order to open a new office in Tokyo.
