The world’s largest law firm by employee count has launched a new office in Milan, marking it the firms first Italian-based office. Dentons attributed their move to the fact that Italy has the third largest economy in the Eurozone and can therefore provide a number of prosperous business deals for the firm to advise on. The office will be dealing with a wide range of areas including corporate and M&A, energy, environment, finance, infrastructure, private equity and real estate.
Dentons have hired 21 lawyers from firms including DLA Piper in order to supplement the Milan office. Among these is DLA’s former managing director for Europe and Africa Federico Sutti, who will be leading the Dentons team and has previously served as managing partner for Italy during a period of 16 years. The launch follows shortly from Dentons launch into Budapest in April where they hired two partners from White & Case.
