Weekend Edition 23/11

Weekend Edition 23/11

In this weeks edition: Vac Scheme deadlines, the 5 books every law student must have and more.

Good morning. It’s been another exciting week at The Student Lawyer, with flyers and posters heading out to campuses across the country. We’ve had dozens of new members sign up and the last Weekend Edition was our most popular email newsletter ever!

If you’ve just started your degree, or maybe you’re a more seasoned law student and you still have some enthusiasm left, you’ll be wondering what books you can read to further your knowledge. Aoife Macauley has put together a list of the 5 best non-textbook books for law students and we think every one of these should be on your bookshelf.

Vacation Scheme applications are still open, so we thought we’d remind you, just in case you missed it, that we’ve compiled a list of over 100 law firms, their vac scheme deadlines and their pay. Make sure you check it out and cut down your preparation time, giving you more time to perfect your applications.

If you’ve heard the term ‘challenger bank’ during your commercial awareness research, you might be wondering what it means. Benita Koh has had a look and put together a great article explaining everything you need to know about them.

Finally, if you’re still doing your GCSE’s and you’re thinking about picking A-Levels, we’ve had a look at the pros and cons of studying Law at A-Level.

If you haven’t already, be sure to like our page on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
